Does Medicare Cover Lift Chairs?
This is a question we get asked a lot, and the answer isn’t a simple yes or no. Medicare will only pay for the lift mechanism of the chair, NOT the chair itself. See the video below, from our YouTube channel that goes into more detail about the coverage and requirements that must be met.
The main questions on the Certificate of Medical Necessity are:
Does the patient have severe arthritis of the hip or knee?
Does the patient have a severe neuromuscular disease?
Is the patient completely incapable of standing up from a regular armchair or any chair in his/her home?
Once standing, does the patient have the ability to ambulate?
Have all appropriate therapeutic modalities to enable the patient to transfer from a chair to a standing position (e.g., medication, physical therapy) been tried and failed? If YES, this is documented in the patient’s medical records.
Please note that the only question that can be no is question 1 or 2. If both are no you do not qualify. If they are yes you will have to have documentation from your physician to back the yes answer up.
Is there Lift Chair Delivery Available?
Curbside Delivery is your free option. This means that the freight company will bring it to your house depending on a few situations like the length of your driveway? Can the freight truck turn around in your subdivision? All this information will base on where they will put the lift chair box at. This type of delivery is great if someone is there that can help the individual get the chair in the house.
Front Door Delivery is an option if the door frame is wide enough for the lift chair box to go in. Most of your lift chair boxes are between 39 and 45 inches wide so this is something to consider when choosing this option.
White Glove Delivery is the option where someone comes to your home and sets up the lift chair where you prefer it. Some stipulations are set to first floor delivery and not going up to the second floor of the home. If you have questions on this, we highly recommend calling one of our expert here at All Star Medical to help you figure out what’s the best option for you.
Please make note that Golden Technologies and Pride Mobility offer these lift chair delivery options but they can vary to some degree.
How to Choose the Right Lift Chair?
2 Position, 3 Position, Zero Gravity, and more options when it comes to a Lift Chair. We give you the 411 so you can buy the perfect lift chair for your needs.
Infinite Positioning is when a lift chair has two motors. One controls the Backrest and the other controls the footrest. This gives you the ability for multiple positions. By having the two motor you have the ability to control your feet and not have to worry about your back moving. You can’t do this on a one motor chair.
What are the warranties on Lift Chairs?
All-Star Medical offers robust warranty options for lift chairs from **Golden Technologies** and **Pride Mobility**, ensuring customers receive comprehensive coverage for key components and long-term protection. Here’s an expanded breakdown of each brand’s warranty offerings:
**Golden Technologies Lift Chairs Warranty**
Golden Technologies provides some of the best warranties in the industry to ensure their products are well-supported. Here’s what their warranty typically covers:
1. **Lifetime Warranty on Frame & Lift Mechanism**:
The steel frame, scissor mechanism, and lift mechanism are covered for the **lifetime** of the chair. This ensures that the core structural elements of the chair are protected against defects in workmanship and material for as long as you own the chair.
2. **Electrical Components Warranty**:
Electrical parts like motors, transformers, and control boxes are protected under a **three-year** warranty. If any issues arise with these critical parts, they will be repaired or replaced within this period.
Golden Technologies also offers an **optional extended warranty** for an additional charge that can extend the protection of these electrical components beyond the initial three years.
**Pride Mobility Lift Chairs Warranty**
Pride Mobility offers competitive warranties for their lift chairs to ensure reliable performance and customer satisfaction:
1. **Lifetime Warranty on Lift Mechanism & Frame**:
Similar to Golden, Pride Mobility provides a **lifetime warranty** on the steel lift mechanism and the chair’s frame. This means that if there is any structural failure due to defects in manufacturing, it will be repaired or replaced for the lifetime of the product.
2. **Electrical Components Warranty**:The motors, hand controls, and electrical systems** are covered by a **two-year** warranty. These components are vital for the functionality of the chair, so this warranty ensures peace of mind for any potential electronic failures.
For certain high-end models, Pride may offer extended coverage or optional extended warranties.
**Additional Considerations for Both Brands**:
**Optional Extended Warranties**: Both brands offer optional extended warranties for their lift chairs. These extended warranties cover additional years beyond the standard warranty period, especially for electrical components and in-home service.
**Warranty Transfer**: The warranties from both Golden Technologies and Pride Mobility typically apply only to the original purchaser of the lift chair and are non-transferable.
**Exclusions**: Normal wear and tear, damage caused by misuse or improper maintenance, and non-factory repairs are not covered under the warranties for either brand.
By offering extensive coverage on key components, these warranties ensure that lift chairs from both Golden Technologies and Pride Mobility remain reliable, and users enjoy continuous support for their mobility needs. All-Star Medical provides these warranties with all lift chair purchases to ensure customer satisfaction and product longevity.
